Yet, research shows that as many as two million elders are abused in the United States every year. With the help of our partners at Social Security, the National Center on Elder Abuse believes we can all find a solution to physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and neglectful abuse against the elderly.</p>
|

<p>The <a href="https://ncea.acl.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">National Center on Elder Abuse</a> provides the latest information, research, training, best practices, and resources on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Our agency was first established by the U.S. Administration on Aging in 1988 as a national elder abuse resource center.<span id="more-4170"></span></p>
|
|||
|
|
<p>At the heart of elder abuse is a leading factor of abuse — social isolation. Isolation, in this context, means a scarce amount of close relationships and social contact with family and/or friends. Research shows that older adults who have poor social networks are consistently more at risk. Although social isolation can show up in many ways, <a href="https://youtu.be/aO-HM2sty5A" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">building strong community support</a> is essential to deterring abuse.</p>
|
|||
|
|
<p>Social Security is a pinnacle of reliability and steadfastness for older adults. When Social Security speaks, people listen. We applaud the agency’s efforts to communicate with and provide resources for the elderly.</p>
|
|||
|
|
<p>The other day a frightened 84-year-old gentleman contacted our offices. He received a call from “Social Security” stating that his Social Security number and Medicare information had been compromised. They needed him to verify his information over the phone. At first, the call seemed legitimate but then he thought it was odd that Social Security would call him to verify his personal information. He hung up, fearful that someone was trying to steal his identity. We assured him he did the right thing and instructed him to report that information to the Office of Inspector General <a href="https://oig.ssa.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">online</a> or by calling (800) 269-0271.</p>

|
|
<p>We also urged him to report these scams to the Federal Trade Commission through <a href="https://identitytheft.gov/ssa" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a new site related to Social Security scams</a>. He was grateful for these resources and relieved to know where to file his report. This infrastructure of support empowers individuals.</p>
|

One was a woman living 3 blocks from my mother in Centerville ,Ohio and losing 113,000 dollars and i have an FTC case number 104305883 and with WHIO channel 7 and WDTN channel 2 news reporting in April 2019 ! I was playing their PCH lotto website starting in August 2016 and in September 2016 they announced my name Gary Dixon ,Dayton ,Ohio a 10000 dollar winner .2 hours later they contacted me and 6 others also that these notifications were typo errors ! So i played on 30 months later and spending 900 to 1200 dollars on their junk ass merchandise and should have won the Lotto as i have numerous screen shots of hacking ,phlishing ,and fraudulent texts ,messenging and emails etc I quit in April to stand up for a higher cause to protect elderly people playing PCH website by contacting the FTC A week later i informed these Dumb Ass idiot Jericho NY Publishers Clearing House Snobs to create PCH players cards with secret player accounts in which they would have to log in every single day prior to play and would have lifetime players tokens on them as well ! The sanctioned Casinos have been using players cards for years and theres HUGE ASS reasons why ! SECURITY and so they ignored my suggestion that would have saved a South Carolina woman from losing 65000 dollars and another Las Vegas woman from losing 135000 dollars ! How can the FTC and US Government agencies allow these licensed thieves called Publishers Clearing House expose elderly people to their online activity and vulnerable to thugged internet thieves plucking them off like BIRDS ON A FENCED WIRE without taking advice about a brilliant idea in which i could have saved two women from being scammed out of LIFE’S SAVINGS !! Julie this piece of shit PCH sweepstakes Corporation has lost Class Action Lawsuits in 50 damn states and i will expose them to local and world news media about this issue after consulting an attorney to fight for justifiable rights for the ELDERLY PEOPLE that make up a very large percentage of these piece of SHIT ONLINE THIEVES ! <p>I suffered in my home from my 57 year old son of elder abuse (verbal & emotional) that grew into physical. My Doctor did as required notified the sherriff when she saw a mark on my back where he had hit me with a cane. He received a call from the sheriff dept. No follow up..nothing else. He was smug. Possibly better for me at that time. 2017 it got much worse. Sheriffs came to the house and went. Sheriffs said he does not meet the kriteria. When he back handed me. I took pictures. When he threw my horse’s lead line and brass clip hit me in the eye..I took a picture. When he kept breaking into my bedroom door and smacking it with a cane..I took pictures if the door. When I went to COA they couldn’t help me. My friend couldnt believe it. I called Betty Griffin Sexual Assualt help line…they couldnt help me. Layers in town said I shouldn’t have to live like this. I would need $1000. to start proceedings. I don’t have that upfront..we can Baker Act him. What then I ask? He comes back to your house. How stupid did I look? Then after 2 months my dear friend marched me into the courthouse & we sat until a woman (an Advocate) came out to see if she could help. The hand if God had arrived. This was 9:30am and by 10:30am we were filling out papers for an injunction. She reviewed. I redid. She reviewed. We gave pictures to her. She brought them to the Judge’s legal Secretary who reviewed them and she signed and told our Advocate the Judge was still there and she would bring them herself. We went with our Advocate back to her office who explained what hopefully would happen after the Judge signed paper’s. Sheriffs would immediately go and pick him up with what he had on him. He to be 500′ from my property. 100′ from me & my car or he would go to jail. He could not cal or text me. That was 10/29/19 (1 day). 1 Advocate. 1 Miracle. The Advocate is part of BGC, Betty Griffin Center. COA familiar with Betty Griffin Secual Abuse. NO WHERE DID ANY ONE EDUCATE THE OTHER. ABUSE IS ABUSE. YOU ONLY NEED ONE ADVOCATE. <p>The reason I am contacting the Social Security Commissioner is to know if there is a some cause where I can be initialed to Social Security benefits. <p>Nice article about elder abuse. While signing up for one item at this site, I encountered an error. Well I managed to continue setting up the account and then correctly answered security questions eventually. They wanted me to go in before I had the account set up, but since I managed to set it up and pass security questions I figured I proved myself.
