<h2 id="ONE">1. What is the Genome Data Viewer (GDV)?</h2>
|
||
<p>The <a href="/genome/gdv/">NCBI Genome Data Viewer (GDV)</a> allows users to visualize gene annotation and other molecular data in the context of whole genome assembly. The Genome Data Viewer is used by different NCBI resources, such as dbGaP and GEO, to provide a graphical display of data associated with specified experiments or samples.</p>
|
||
<p>The core component of the GDV browser is the NCBI <a href="/tools/sviewer/">Sequence Viewer</a>, which supports analysis of genomic assemblies at multiple levels, from the whole chromosome or scaffold to the sequence base bair.</p>
|
||
<h2 id="TWO">2. What tracks are shown in the GDV? Why do I sometime see different tracks?</h2>
|
||
<p>The list of default tracks displayed in the Sequence Viewer widget of the GDV is specified by the context of the NCBI application that is using the GDV. For example, when viewing the GDV in the context of GEO, default tracks displayed include sequence, CpG islands, and NCBI Gene annotation.</p>
|
||
<h2 id="THREE">3. Can I load my own data to this site for display?</h2>
|
||
<p>Yes, you can. For detailed instructions on loading data, please see the section Tracks and User Data on the <a href="/genome/gdv/browser/help/">GDV help page</a>.</p>
|
||
<h2 id="FOUR">4. How many tracks can I display?</h2>
|
||
<p>You can add as many tracks as you like, but performance of GDV may be compromised when loading large (>200) numbers of tracks.</p>
|
||
