<PRE>As part of the release of API keys for the E-utilities, we will be conducting a series of tests during which API keys will be fully active in the production E-utilities interface (eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/).
|
|
|
|
The third and final test will take place from 2:00-3:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, Sept 25.
|
|
|
|
During this 1-hour period, API keys will function in the production E-utilities interface exactly as they currently perform in the sandbox (api.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/eutils/):
|
|
|
|
* Requests without an API key from any single IP address sending more than 3 requests/second will receive a status 429 error for as long as the request rate exceeds that limit
|
|
* Requests with an API key sending more than the limit for that key (default is 10 requests/second) will receive a status 429 error for as long as the request rate exceeds that limit
|
|
|
|
|
|
To be clear, receiving a status 429 error is a temporary condition, and service will be instantly restored once the request rate drops below the relevant rate limit. You do not need to contact us to restore service.
|
|
|
|
