*** CODE BACK-COMPATIBILITY
There had been quite a few changes in the code API (mostly in
the code generation for serializeable objects and in the ObjectManager
related APIs) since the October release; we also started using newer
versions of some 3rd party packages and the NCBI C Toolkit (see below).
So be prepared to encounter and fight code backward-compatibility issues.
*** THE GOOD NEWS
...is that the Toolkit functionality has been significantly improved and
extended, especially in the areas related to the data serialization
and ObjectManager).
There is also a fledging GBENCH project which matures rapidly; it
however has its own release schedule so far (although it's a part of
the Toolkit). To get more info about the GBENCH:

or contact GBENCH project leader, Mike DiCuccio.
"GBENCH: NCBI Genome Workbench is an application for visualization of
molecule information (sequences, alignment, molecule features, etc)."
