NIH’s quantum Science Interest Group (SIG) comprises both NIH and non-NIH scientists with shared interests and/or expertise in quantum sciences and technology applications in biomedical sciences. The SIG hosts monthly seminars to help researchers share the latest quantum-related science and technology developments and applications. This group also organizes workshops by national and international quantum experts to promote knowledge of quantum technology applications. The workshops identify opportunities for learning, training and workforce development in partnership with academia, industry and government agencies. The SIG members act as informal advisors to the NIH deputy director of intramural research and provide advice for the annual NIH Research Festival. This group welcomes participation by interested non-NIH scientists. This NIH virtual workshop was organized aims to stimulate discussions to identify unique and timely opportunities in developing quantum sensing and quantum enabled sensing technology applications in biological and biomedical domains by engaging stakeholders from industry, academia, government research labs, and funding agencies.</li><li>2023 — <a href="https://www.osti.gov/biblio/2228574" target="_blank">Quantum Computing for Biomedical Computational and Data Sciences: A Joint DOE-NIH Roundtable</a>. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are interested in exploiting the DOE community’s capabilities and expertise in quantum computing to potentially advance biomedical research, targeting fundamental studies of biological and molecular structures, understanding of human health as well as mental and physical disorders and diseases, and deriving insights from clinical data.</li></ul>
