For many years, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/gene?utm_source=ncbi_insights&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=refseq-uniprot-20231108\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">NCBI Gene<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> has provided information about the relationships between RefSeq and UniProt accessions courtesy of data imported from UniProt, but the tremendous growth of both datasets has led to large gaps in the data. We have developed a new process to compare the two datasets, first looking for 100% identical proteins and then checking the remaining sequences for similar matches in related taxa. The result is mapping information now covering over 170 million RefSeq proteins across the tree of life.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{"134233117":true,"134233118":true,"201341983":0,"335559740":240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You can find links to related\u00a0UniProt accessions on individual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/gene\/101688006?utm_source=ncbi_insights&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=refseq-uniprot-20231108#reference-sequences\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">NCBI Gene records<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. The entire dataset is available on our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/gene\/DATA\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">FTP site<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{"134233117":true,"134233118":true,"201341983":0,"335559740":240}\">\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<h5><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Stay up to date<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{"134233117":true,"134233118":true,"201341983":0,"335559739":160,"335559740":240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">This update was done as part of the\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/comparative-genomics-resource?utm_source=ncbi_insights&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=refseq-uniprot-20231108\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">NIH Comparative Genomics Resource (CGR)<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u202fCGR facilitates reliable comparative genomics analyses\u202ffor all eukaryotic organisms through an NCBI Toolkit and community collaboration.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{"134233117":true,"134233118":true,"201341983":0,"335559739":160,"335559740":240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This data was produced to maximize the reach of genomic data and enable better data exchange between community resources. We’ll be exploring ways to leverage these relationships as well similar mappings between NCBI RefSeq and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/gene\/DATA\/gene2ensembl.gz\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ensembl<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
