<p class="Normal">This Notice is to remind recipient institutions that Annual Reports for the reporting period of October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021, are due to the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (<a href="https://olaw.nih.gov/home.htm">OLAW</a>) by December 1, 2021.</p>
|

|
<p class="Normal"><strong>Background</strong></p>
|
|
|
|
<p class="Normal">The Annual Report to OLAW reporting period and Annual Report deadline changed in 2020 to harmonize with the USDA reporting period per recommendations of the <a href="https://olaw.nih.gov/sites/default/files/21CCA_final_report.pdf">final report</a> issued by the 21st Century Cures Act Sec. 2034(d) Working Group. The Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (<a href="https://olaw.nih.gov/policies-laws/phs-policy.htm">PHS Policy</a>) requires Assured institutions to submit a written report to OLAW at least once every 12 months.</p>
|

|
<p class="Normal"><strong>What to Include</strong></p>
|
|
|
|
<p class="Normal">Information to be reported includes:</p>
|
|
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li class="Normal">any change in the institution’s AAALAC </span></span>International accreditation status;</li>
|
|
<li class="Normal">any change in the institution’s program of animal care and use as described in PHS Policy section IV.A.1.a.- i.;</li>
|
|
<li class="Normal">any change in the Institutional Official or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) membership;</li>
|
|
<li class="Normal">dates that the IACUC conducted its semiannual evaluations of the program and facilities; and</li>
|
|
<li class="Normal">any minority view by an IACUC member.</li>
|
|
</ul>

|
|
|
|
