<p class="heading2">Purpose</p>
<p>Registration is now open for the <a href="https://regionalseminars.od.nih.gov/washingtondc2018/">2018 NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration</a> to be held in Washington, D.C., May 2-4 .steps away from the U.S. Capitol and Union Station. Register today through December 15, 2017 for discounted rates and save!</p>
<p>As a participant of this uniquely designed seminar, you and over 600 of your peers will be able to hear the latest grants process and policy information from approximately 65 NIH & HHS grants experts - all located in a central location. In addition, over 40 NIH Institute and Center staff will be available for smaller, more personal discussion opportunities in our "1:1 Meet the Experts" chats. </p>

<p><strong>What does the <a href="https://regionalseminars.od.nih.gov/washingtondc2018/schedule/2-day-seminar/">2-Day Seminar Agenda</a> offer?<br>
</strong>The NIH Regional Seminar offers a comprehensive program for the NIH extramural community about the NIH grants process and related policies, including such topics as Fundamentals of the NIH, compliance, peer review, grant writing for success, pre-award and post-award issues for administrators and investigators, animal and human subject research, and how to interact electronically with NIH. </p>
<p>In addition to a wide variety of sessions for research administrators, an Investigators track will provide step-by-step guidance on mapping your career, an understanding of the funding process and what can be expected up to the time of award. To add to the array of topic choices, special interest sessions are provided on topics like research integrity, data sharing, foreign collaborations, and more. Over 45 different topics are offered during the 2-day seminar! <br>
<br>
<strong>What <a href="https://regionalseminars.od.nih.gov/washingtondc2018/optional-pre-seminar-workshops/">Optional Pre-Seminar Workshops</a> are being offered? </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>NIH electronic Research Administration experts from the NIH provide day workshops on application preparation and submission, as well as topical issues related to the eRA Commons.</li>
<li>NIH Boot Camp for Administrators is a day workshop that provides a great introduction to the NIH grants process for those brand new to working with NIH. It&rsquo;s provided by NIH policy and grants management experts. </li>
<li>Intellectual Property and iEdison day workshops are offered for those who want a better understanding of intellectual property, the Bayh-Dole Act, Inventions & Reporting, as well as iEdison. </li>
<li>OHRP and NIH experts provide a full day workshop for investigators desiring to learn more on getting research protocols through human subjects review with skill. </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Who will present from NIH and HHS? <br>
</strong>Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and attend sessions provided by approximately 65 NIH and HHS policy officers, grants management, review and program officials, as well as NIH senior leadership all in a central location and ready to share their knowledge and experiences. During the 2-day seminar, attendees can also sign up for <a href="https://regionalseminars.od.nih.gov/washingtondc2018/11-meet-the-experts/">15 minute discussions</a> with presenters and additional NIH Institute and Center experts to discuss more specific questions in a small setting. This unique opportunity to meet with staff in person, is a very popular and invaluable addition to the seminar. </p>
<p><strong>Who should attend?<br>
</strong>The NIH Regional Seminar is intended for those new to the grants process, including sponsored project officers and departmental administrators, investigators, faculty, graduate students, and others involved in the NIH grants process. Over the course of two days, it also provides an opportunity to those with more experience to obtain updates on grants policies and procedures. Approximately 600-700 attendees are expected, providing extended opportunities for sharing and learning from peers as well as the NIH experts. </p>
<p><strong>What's the goal of the seminar?<br>
</strong>The goal of the NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration is to offer participants an unparalleled opportunity to gain a better perspective of NIH policies and programs, network with their peers, and gather helpful NIH contacts. In the process, participants will be able to return to their offices and/or labs with useful information, resources, and tools to assist in obtaining and managing NIH awards. </p>

These seminars often reach capacity before the seminar dates and hotel rooms at the discounted rate book quickly, so don t wait too long and miss your opportunity. A $50 Trainee Discount is offered towards any of our registration rates with proof of status. </p>
