You can search this collection against your favorite prokaryotic proteins to identify their function using the <a href=\"http:\/\/eddylab.org\/software\/hmmer\/Userguide.pdf\">HMMER<\/a> sequence analysis package.<\/p>\n<p>The 8.0 release contains 15,358 models, including 160 that are new since 7.0. In addition, we have added better names, EC numbers, <a href=\"http:\/\/geneontology.org\/\">Gene Ontology<\/a> (GO) terms, gene symbols or publications to over 550 existing HMMs. You can search and view the details for these in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/protfam?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=genome-annotation&amp;utm_term=hmm&amp;utm_content=20220331link2\">Protein Family Model collection<\/a>, which also includes conserved domain architectures and BlastRules, and find all RefSeq proteins they name.<\/p>\n<p>GO terms associated with HMMs are now propagated to\u00a0 coding sequences and proteins annotated with PGAP.
