<p>To carry out meaningful community-engaged research, research teams should work with community members as partners in all phases of the research process. The Community Engagement Alliance Consultative Resource (CEACR) was launched in 2021 to provide federally funded researchers access to community-engaged research resources and knowledge. Accessing CEACR’s services and resources can increase effectiveness and inclusiveness at all stages of the community-engaged research process.</p>
<p>CEACR is a partnership between the University of Pittsburgh Clinical and Translational Science Institute and Community-Campus Partnerships for Health. Working with a roster of more than 190 community and academic experts, including those within NIH Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL), CEACR has held more than 50 tailored consultations and provided custom recommendations for research teams.</p>

<h3>CEACR offers tailored consultations to federally funded research teams.</h3>

<p>CEACR consultations are tailored to meet the specific needs of each research team seeking targeted recommendations around community engagement. Consultations leverage community engagement expertise from the CEAL Alliance and beyond and may include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Customized recommendations on promising practices for community-engaged research and increasing inclusive participation in research</li>
<li>Facilitated listening sessions to promote greater understanding and application of community-engaged research strategies</li>
<li>Presentations focused on promising practices for community-engaged research and increasing inclusive participation in research</li>
<li>Referrals to resources on effective community-engaged research</li>
<li>Technical assistance, such as recommendations for developing survey tools or writing inclusive language for Institutional Review Boards</li>
</ul>
<p>Federally funded research teams can request a consultation <a href="https://nihceal.org/programs/community-engagement-alliance-consultative-resource">through the CEACR Web page</a> by supplying information about the project, its goals, and how CEACR may be able to help. After receiving the request, the CEACR team evaluates the scope of the request and taps into its roster of over 190 expert panelists to assemble a unique panel to advise research teams on their topic of interest. CEACR’s panelists include experts from community and academic settings who can provide tailored recommendations on engagement approaches for the communities that research teams wish to involve.</p>
<p>To develop recommendations for the project, panelists draw on their professional and lived experiences. Serving on a CEACR panel allows participants to connect with others and gain new perspectives from peers involved in community-engaged research across the country.</p>
