Chikungunya Vaccine, Live
Excerpt
Chikungunya vaccine is a live, attenuated vaccine. No information is available on the clinical use of chikungunya vaccine during breastfeeding. Because it is a live vaccine the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend caution in administration of the vaccine to nursing mothers, but it is not contraindicated. In adults given the vaccine, viremia resolved in all participants by 15 days after the dose. If the mother requires chikungunya vaccine, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding.
