Wellness Resources for Fellows and Students

Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE)

OITE’s mission is to enhance the training experience of intramural students and fellows. Trainees are encouraged to visit OITE at any time to talk confidentially about the issues they may be facing. The staff includes career counselors, wellness counselors, and others trained in dealing with personal issues. Their wellness counselors can work with fellows on a variety of issues including serious issues with mentors, job stress, and dealing with transitions. 


Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is staffed by licensed mental health professionals who provide free and confidential short-term counseling, management consultation, training, crisis management, Critical Incident Stress Management, referral and follow up services to enhance personal and professional well-being.


Office of the Ombudsman and Center for Cooperative Resolution (OO/CCR)

The OO/CCR coordinates and provides a full range of dispute resolution programs and services with a focus on professional disputes.


NIH Civil Program

The Civil Program’s mission is to foster civility throughout the NIH community. Contact the Civil Program if you become aware of a workplace situation involving uncivil behavior, such as harassment, sexual harassment, inappropriate conduct, intimidation, bullying, or other unproductive, disruptive, and/or violent behaviors.


Occupational Medical Service (OMS)

The goal of the OMS is to enhance the health and safety of the NIH workforce through the provision of a variety of work-related medical services.


Wellness@NIH

The research our agency supports has shown that people have the ability to affect their own health through their daily decisions and actions. Wellness@NIH will enable and support you in those efforts – by bringing you information about key health topics, services, and ways large and small that can help you turn your many hours at work into an active part of a 24/7 healthier life.
