A mode of inheritance that is observed for traits related to a gene encoded on one of the autosomes (i.e., the human chromosomes 1-22) in which a trait manifests in individuals with two pathogenic alleles, either homozygotes (two copies of the same mutant allele) or compound heterozygotes (whereby each copy of a gene has a distinct mutant allele).

Definition

A form of congenital disorders of N-linked glycosylation with characteristics of intellectual disability, delayed motor development, hypotonia and truncal obesity. Additional features include slight facial dysmorphism (hypertelorism, downslanting palpebral fissures, large, low-set ears, hypoplastic nasolabial fold, thin upper lip), hypermobility of the joints and skin laxity. The disease is caused by mutations in the gene MAN1B1 (9q34.3). [from SNOMEDCT_US]
