Melanie Reagan is the Deputy Director for Management/Executive Officer of the National Eye Institute (NEI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She provides leadership and direction for a wide array of the Institute’s administrative management activities, including financial management, human resources, acquisitions, information technology, property management, space and facilities management, management analysis and ethics. Melanie has served on the NIH Administrative Training Committee (ATC) and chaired the Presidential Management Fellow Subcommittee where she helped to onboard and mentor new fellows. Melanie’s professional interests include organizational and leadership development and mentoring.

Melanie’s career at NIH spans more than 25 years, starting in the research hospital setting and progressing through a number of administrative roles. She began her NIH career as a respiratory therapist at the NIH Clinical Center where she served as the Deputy Section Chief of the Critical Care Therapy and Respiratory Care Section and later transitioned to an Administrative Officer in the Critical Care Medicine Department. Prior to joining NEI, Melanie spent 4 years at the National Institute on Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK), where she served as the Branch Chief for the Extramural and Office of the Director Administrative Management Branch.

Melanie earned her B.S. in Respiratory Therapy from York College of Pennsylvania.
