The pre-Release is now installed at:
   ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/toolbox/ncbi_tools++/Mar_20_2003/

NOTE: it's not pointed to by the "CURRENT/" sym.link though, as it's
       not a Release!

--------------------------------------------
ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/toolbox/ncbi_tools++/Mar_20_2003/RELEASE_NOTES:

***  It's a PRE-Release!

This distribution is not a full-blown Release, but rather a sort
of pre-Release.

***  CAVEATS

1) The CodeWarrior/MacOS distribution archive, however present, is not
   tested at all:
      ncbi_cxx_mac-CodeWarrior-UNTESTED.gtar.gz

2) Also not tested was whether it's compatible with the latest
   NCBI C Toolkit Release at:
      ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/toolbox/ncbi_tools/CURRENT
   However, considering that the C Toolkit archives are relatively
   fresh (especially the UNIX ones), so most probably it should work out okay.

3) There are some minor platform-specific glitches, mostly on exotic
   platforms which needs some investigation; still, even on these platforms
   most of the important and widely used code seems to work just fine.

*** 3RD-PARTY ADD-ON PACKAGE VERSIONS AS USED BY US

  FLTK  -- 1.1.3
  wxWin -- 2.4.0 (2.3.3 on Solaris/SPARC but switching to 2.4.0 there as well)
  FCGI  -- 2.2.0

***  ETC

The GCC/X11 configuration on MacOS X, which behaves (builds and runs)
just like a regular UNIX seems to be okay:
	ncbi_cxx_macosx.tar.gz  -> ncbi_cxx_unix.tar.gz

It was successfully tested and proved to build and work
fine on most of the major platforms-compilers.

The "real" Release is expected in a matter of a week or two.
