Table 6. Hours per Day for Allied Health Staffing in Nursing Facilities*

Dietitian 4 hours (M-F)
Discharge Planner Responsibility of social services
EKG Technician Nurse aides are trained to do as needed
Laboratory Technician Contracted service
Medical Records 8 hours per day (M-F)
Mental Health/Social Services 8 hours per day (M-F) for sub acute/transitional care unit + 8 hours per day (4 days per week) for long-term care patients
Pharmacist Contracted service
Pharmacy Technician Contracted service
Phlebotomist Contracted and nurse aides are trained
Physical Therapist 8 hours per day, 5-7 days per week as needed
Physical Therapy Assistant/Aide 16 hours per day, 5-7 days per week as needed
Respiratory Therapist Contracted service through oxygen supplier
Speech Therapist Shared with two other facilities—approximately 13 hours per week
X-Ray Technician Contracted service
