Proceedings of SCAMSI conference published as journal supplement

Proceedings of the "Nineteenth Annual Symposium on Computer Applications in Medical Care" (SCAMSI), which was held October 28-November 1, 1995, in New Orleans, were recently published in a 1995 symposium supplement to the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. The conference theme was "toward cost-effective clinical computing," and it was chaired by Reed M. Gardner, Ph.D., who also edited the proceedings.

The conference was organized into 10 sections: computer support of clinical practice, decision support systems in clinical practice, designing computerized patient records, computer-and internet-based educational systems, evaluation of clinical information systems, evaluation of computerized health care strategy, computerized image processing and transmission, posters, electronic posters, and theater-style demonstrations such as the internet-based Medical Collaboratory and the Virtual Hospital. The following researchers, whose work was supported by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, contributed papers to the symposium (see the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, Symposium Supplement, 1995):
